Chainsaw Gardening

Here is a little illustration I did for my brother. He needed a flyer illustration for a potluck that’s happening on Friday the 13th. So, we settled on the idea of the Friday the 13th guy (can’t remember his name?) trimming the weeds away using a chainsaw. The tulips were my brother’s idea. Good idea!

Bicycle-Racing Elephant

Here it is, the 26th day of April, 26 days since Sketchbook Month ended, and I haven’t posted a single random sketch (not a new one anyway). So, here you go, and elephant riding a teeny, tiny bicycle (at least it’s teeny, tiny to him).

You may recall I recently posted an image of an alligator riding an old-timey bicycle in Paris. I mentioned that the gator illustration may be part of a 3-part series. This elephant sketch may just be the second part of that series. We’ll see.

This sketch is also being submitted as this week’s Illustration Friday. The theme: “bicycle”.

Updated Website Design (the cow is gone)

I know what you’re thinking, “Josh, didn’t you just redesign your site a month ago?!”. Yes, I did. However, when redesigning that site I kept the same branding using the supercow. After careful deliberation I decided it’s time for a change. The supercow must go. The cow became a distraction, and lets face it, I’m not a cow (nor female for that matter). So, I decided to create a loose caricature of myself to give the site a more personal touch. I also show myself drinking coffee to let people know that I like coffee in case anyone wants to buy me some.

Lomong: The Road to London 2012

This past few months I have had the extreme privilege of designing and developing the personal site of Lopez Lomong. If you watched the opening ceremony of the ’08 Beijing Olympics you saw Lopez carry the flag for the United States of America.

Lopez’s story is amazing. He was born in Sudan and kidnapped at the age of six by Sudanese rebels. You’ll have to read more about his story on his site. A true inspiration!

While preparing for the 2012 London Olympics, Lopez is also creating a foundation for helping the people of Sudan, as well as being a part of the development of a movie on his life.

A more extensive write-up on the development of the site will be posted on my design portfolio once I feel the project is ready, but for now visit the site at LopezLomong.com and follow his journey as he prepares for the London Olympics in 2012, as well as the development of the Lopez Lomong Foundation.

Credits: The picture of Lopez was taken by my buddy, Tim Lawrence, who is also the executive producer of the movie. View his work at www.digitalworksproductions.com.

Gator In Paris

One of my goals this year is to create an Etsy shop and start selling prints. This will be one of my first prints for sale. Not sure the details yet, so stay tuned. My wife, Rayna, suggested that I make this piece a part of a three-part series, so I think I will. She’s so smart!
