Summer Ice Cream: Style Exploration

I’ve been working on this personal illustration off and on all summer, but can’t get it right. Therefore I have decided to use this piece as a vehicle to explore my vector illustration style. I’ve been experimenting with ways to make the vectors looser—less rigid or “vector-y”. I’m also embarking on a new personal/professional project which I’ll discuss later, and need that perfect style for it.

I’m not really happy with the dog and fence in this illustration. If I do anything more with it I’ll probably get rid of the fence and draw the dog fully. Or re-work/re-draw the fence and dog altogether. We’ll see. You can see the initial color sketch for this piece here.

Sharing (WIP)

Hello all. I hope you’re all having a great summer! Here’s a rough work-in-progress color sketch I’m currently working on. Remember folks, sharing is caring.

Fun Old-Fashioned BBQ

Here’s an illustration I recently did for my pals over at Unitus Community Credit Union. The request in the creative brief was for a fun, quaint backyard barbecue setting with a retro 50s to 60s flair. The illustration will be used in collateral postcards, posters, and some flyers.

Galactic Pizza Delivery Finished

I finally got around to vectoring up this fun piece. One of my goals was to really limit the color palate, and not go crazy with detailed shadows and highlights. I also used old Looney Tunes cartoons as comic inspiration. For you Battlestar Galactica fans, you’ll notice a Viper Mark II streaking across the background.

Below you’ll find screenshots of my work in progress. Enjoy!

Intergalactic Pizza Delivery

My wife and I have been watching a lot of Battlestar Galactica, and one thing I’ve been asking myself is what I would do if I was stuck in outer space without a decent pizza. Hence, Intergalactic Pizza Delivery boy to the rescue! Now there’s a tv show.
